Deiby Canovas, born in 1971 in Artemisa, Cuba, is a self-taught painter whose artistic journey commenced in his childhood surrounded by oils and brushes. Guided by his father, also a painter, Canovas explored styles like Cubism and Surrealism. He later studied furniture design, specializing in wood carving, earning a position in the Cuban Association of Artistically Craftsmen (ACAA).Continuing his artistic evolution, Canovas mastered techniques involving oils, canvasses, gouges, and wood, drawing inspiration from artists like Wilfredo Lam and Pablo Picasso. His work, characterized by Magic Realism with a touch of Cubism, focuses on themes of women, love, and human relationships in the surreal world of Cuban fields.In 2007, Canovas migrated to the United States and currently resides in Miami, Florida. His art has evolved, with collections displayed across the United States, Mexico, and China. In 2019, he received awards for a public sculpture in Hialeah and his collaboration on the design of a prestigious magazine's annual prize, Carteles.
